Academics and researchers working at Higher Education Institutions in Cyprus have sent an open letter denouncing what they describe as the genocide taking place in Gaza, calling on the Cypriot government to sever all ties with Israel.
In their letter, they condemn “the genocide carried out by the murderous state of Israel against the Palestinian people, with the support of the USA, NATO, and the EU.”
They also urge the government to end all cooperation and facilitation with Israel, to take concrete action in condemning its crimes, and to oppose Israeli–US plans for the total occupation of Gaza.
The signatories call for the immediate lifting of the blockade on Gaza to allow the delivery of medicines, food, medical aid, and other essentials, as well as the recognition of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
