The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Russia is imposing sanctions on 21 people who are tied to UK media, NGOs, consulting agencies and experts community. 18 British citizens have been listed, in addition to 1 from Canada, 1 from the USA, and 1 Irish citizen. The press release says the people listed are involved in “spreading disinformation and levelling unfounded accusations against Russia”. They are also said to have engaged in “hostile lobbying activities” which “contribute to the destabilization of global energy markets”.
Those sanctioned include:
Jonathan Hall KC – the UK Independent Reviewer of Terrorism
Dominic Murphy – head of the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command
Imogen Payter – head of UK Friends of Ukraine and
Rafael Behr, Matthew Syed and Samuel Ramani – columnists for the Guardian UK, Times UK and Telegraph UK newspapers.
