The Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy has announced it has secured an additional waiver of sanctions against the Russian-owned Serbian Oil Industry (NIS). NIS operates Serbia’s only oil refinery.

OFAC designated NIS in January 2025 because it is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, a Russian energy company. The company has been granted 5 previous waivers, which suspend the effects of US asset freezes and transaction bans. US sanctions have been postponed until 26 September 2025.
