Oscar-winning American actress Diane Keaton has died at the age of 79, according to People magazine, which cited a statement from her family representative.
Keaton began her career on stage before making her film debut in 1970. She gained worldwide recognition for her portrayal of Kay Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, and went on to star in several of Woody Allen’s most acclaimed films.
Her performance in Annie Hall (1977) earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress, a role that became one of the defining moments of her career.
Keaton received three additional Oscar nominations over the years, showcasing her versatility in both drama and comedy with standout performances in films like Father of the Bride and The First Wives Club.
Her success continued into the 2000s, earning yet another nomination for her role in Something’s Gotta Give and appearing in the ensemble romantic comedy The Family Stone.
