Ukrainian President Arrives at the White House

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House today for a meeting with Donald Trump, who is seeking to end the war in Ukraine thanks to the dialogue he has started with Moscow.

The Ukrainian head of state was received by his American counterpart, with whom he is expected to sign a framework agreement regarding joint investments in minerals, hydrocarbons and infrastructure in Ukraine.

Donald Trump, welcoming his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House, stated that a “very fair agreement” on Ukrainian minerals will be signed, saying that an agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine is “reasonably close.”

Zelensky stressed that the agreement to be signed would be a step forward for Ukraine.

Trump and Zelensky are expected to sign a framework agreement on the exploitation of Ukrainian minerals and discuss possible security guarantees for Ukraine after the end of the war with Russia.

Trump also said that he had spoken with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, again speaking – alongside Zelensky – about a settlement to end the war in Ukraine. Addressing the Ukrainian president, the White House resident told him that he would have to make “compromises.”
