Yorgos Lanthimos’ New Project in the Work

With Bugonia set for release in November and the adaptation of My Year of Rest and Relaxation still in the works, Yorgos Lanthimos has another new project underway.

According to The Film Stage, the Greek filmmaker will write and direct a thriller titled Fatale, based on the 1977 novel by French author Jean-Patrick Manchette. While the cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, Emma Stone—Lanthimos’ frequent collaborator—is already being speculated for the lead role.

Fatale centers on Aimée Joubert, a stunning and emotionally detached professional assassin who uses her beauty and charm to manipulate and eliminate her targets. As the story progresses, her carefully constructed life begins to unravel.

Lanthimos has had a busy few years. His acclaimed film Poor Things earned Emma Stone another Oscar in 2023, while last year’s Kinds of Kindness (also starring Stone) brought Jesse Plemons the Best Actor award at Cannes, though the film received mixed critical reactions.

As more details about Fatale emerge, many expect Stone’s name to be attached once again, according to Word of Reel.
