Despite a slight rise in temperatures expected on Saturday, the bitter cold will continue over the next few days. Speaking on the radio show “Diaspora News,” Meteorological Officer Andreas Chatzigeorgiou stated: “Tomorrow we expect a temperature increase of about 3 degrees Celsius. However, tonight and Saturday night will be colder, with temperatures expected to drop.”
When asked whether tonight could be the coldest night of the winter, Mr. Chatzigeorgiou replied that either tonight or tomorrow night is likely to be the coldest.

A combination of low atmospheric pressure, a cold air mass, and strong northerly winds is affecting the region.
Tonight: The weather will be partly cloudy, and at times mostly cloudy. There’s a chance of isolated light rain and light snowfall in the mountains. Winds will mainly blow from the northwest to northeast at light to moderate strength (3 to 4 Beaufort), locally strong to very strong (5 to 6 Beaufort) in wind-exposed areas.Seas will be slightly to moderately rough along the southern and eastern coasts, and rough along the western and northern coasts.
Temperatures will fall to 2°C inland, around 4°C along the coast, and -5°C in the higher mountains. Frost is expected in mountainous, semi-mountainous, and some inland areas.
Friday: The weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Winds will continue from the northwest to northeast, at light to moderate levels (3 to 4 Beaufort), and locally strong (5 Beaufort).
Seas will be slightly to moderately rough.
Temperatures will rise to 11°C inland, about 14°C along the coast, and around 1°C in the higher mountains, where frost will persist.
Friday night: The sky will clear and become mostly clear. Winds will blow from the northwest to northeast, light to moderate (3 to 4 Beaufort), and occasionally strong in some areas (4 to 5 Beaufort).
Seas will be slightly rough.
Saturday: Periods of increased cloud cover are expected in some areas.
Sunday: The weather will be mostly cloudy, with possible isolated rain showers and snow in the highest mountain areas.
Monday:
The day will start partly cloudy, gradually becoming mostly cloudy with expected local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snowfall is again expected in the higher elevations.
On Saturday, temperatures will rise slightly, reaching close to average for the season. No significant changes are expected in temperatures on Sunday or Monday. As of the latest report, snow depth measured 20 cm in Troodos Square and 22 cm at the highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains.
