A series of bomb threats were sent today via email to over 300 schools across all districts of Cyprus. The Police were alerted around 7:00 a.m. and immediately activated the Crisis Management Center at Police Headquarters, under the supervision of the Assistant Chief for Crime Prevention and Control.
At the same time, the Protocol for Handling Isolated or Mass Threats was implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth. Police officers conducted inspections at the affected schools, while the Cybercrime Division launched an investigation to trace the source of the emails.
Additionally, assistance has been requested from Interpol and Europol, as similar threats have also been reported in Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
