Cyprus is facing a severe water crisis in 2025, with current reserves barely covering demand even under the best-case scenario. The situation has reached critical levels, particularly during the island’s most productive months. Conditions at the dams are alarming, and experts warn the problem will worsen in the coming months.
This marks the 11th major water crisis since 1987, the year the Kouris Dam was completed, highlighting long-term vulnerabilities in the country’s water management system.
