U.S. Focuses on Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt as Part of Strategic Plans in the Eastern Mediterranean

A bill introduced in the U.S. Congress by Illinois Representative Brad Schneider highlights the strategic role of countries such as Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt within the framework of American policy for the Economic Corridor connecting India, the Middle East, and Europe.

The aim of the proposal is to provide institutional support from the United States for the promotion of this corridor, with a focus on critical infrastructure and strengthening regional connectivity.

The bill calls on the U.S. State Department to support multilateral cooperation initiatives in the region, placing particular emphasis on the “3+1” format and the Cyclops training center in Cyprus, which is presented as a model of regional collaboration.

It also makes specific reference to strategically important energy projects that will help realize the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor.

Furthermore, the legislative initiative includes a requirement for annual reports to Congress on the progress made in multilateral initiatives and the advancement of energy and defense projects.
