Eurovision: Cypriot Entries That Missed the Grand Final

Since making its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, Cyprus has taken part 40 times up until 2025. However, following the introduction of the semi-final rounds in 2004, the nation failed to make it through to the final on seven occasions. Below is a summary of the years when Cyprus did not advance past the semi-finals:

  • 2006 – Annet Artani’s “Why Angels Cry” placed 15th in the semi-final and did not qualify.
  • 2007 – Evridiki returned with “Comme ci, comme ça”, finishing 15th in the semi-final.
  • 2008“Femme Fatale” by Evdokia Kadi also ended in 15th place, missing out on a final spot.
  • 2009 – Christina Metaxa sang “Firefly”, earning 14th place in the semi-final.
  • 2011 – Christos Mylordos performed “San aggelos s’agapisa” and came 18th in his semi-final.
  • 2013 – Despina Olympiou competed with “An me thymásai”, which placed 15th in the semi-final.
  • 2022 – Andromache’s “Ela” finished 12th in the semi-final, just short of qualifying.

Additionally, Cyprus did not participate in the 2014 contest due to financial constraints. Since rejoining in 2015, Cyprus consistently reached the final every year, with the sole exception of 2022.
