Cristiano Ronaldo has topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes for the third consecutive year and the fifth time overall in his career.
The rankings account not only for athletes’ earnings from contracts and competitions but also from other sources such as endorsements and social media.
Even at the age of 40, the Portuguese forward for Al Nassr brought in a staggering $275 million this year, maintaining his status as the most powerful global sports brand. In a distant second place is Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, with earnings of $156 million, followed by boxer Tyson Fury in third with $146 million.
Lionel Messi ranks fifth with $135 million, just ahead of LeBron James, who earned $133.8 million. Giannis Antetokounmpo holds the 13th spot with $94.4 million, while Kylian Mbappé is 16th with $90 million.
