Two individuals, aged 45 and 46, were arrested yesterday by the Police under court-issued warrants to assist in an ongoing fraud investigation.
The investigation began on February 11, 2025, when a 78-year-old resident of Limassol reported to the Police that, following a search at the Limassol Land Registry Office, he discovered that a plot of land he owns in the Limassol district had been sold to a company for €600,000—paid in cryptocurrency.
Further inquiries revealed that forged documents had been submitted for the property transfer, and the complainant’s identity had been falsified.
Based on the evidence gathered, the two suspects were arrested under judicial warrants and are currently in custody to assist with the investigation. They are being investigated for several offenses, including fraudulent real estate transactions, obtaining money by false pretenses, identity theft, forgery, use of forged documents, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is handling the case.
