According to Euromonitor International’s World’s Top 100 City Destinations report, Bangkok, the country’s capital, attracted the most international visitors in 2024.

This city is a global hub for dining, nightlife and travel experiences. It is the world’s most visited city for 2024. A total of 32.4 million people arrived in the bustling city, and the data analytics firm said that number “surpassed the pre-pandemic level of international tourist flows in 2023 and continued its strong growth of over 30% in 2024.”

If you’ve ever been to Bangkok, you’ll know that, while bustling in some areas, it’s a place full of fascinating contrasts. One night, you could be eating at a street food stall in Chinatown, and the next, you could be dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Exploring the temples around the Old City or browsing Thai antiques at the Erawan Museum should be on your “must” list, but you should also seek out the glitz and modern luxury of Bangkok’s best hotels, including Capella Bangkok and the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.

While this is true for Bangkok, it is also relevant to the other cities included in Euromonitor International’s list. Istanbul, the world’s most visited city in 2023, followed Bangkok with 23 million international visits in 2024. London, Hong Kong and Mecca, Saudi Arabia, complete the top five, while Antalya, Turkey, and Dubai are just below. Dubai, Macau, Paris and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, complete the top ten.
